The
Storage of LP-Gas is covered in NFPA 58-2008, Liquefied Petroleum Gas Code. What is important is that propane is not a flammable liquid. It is a flammable, liquefied gas. This difference is very important and the reason that the two must not be stored improperly. Propane storage is severely restricted in buildings because of its rapid evolution of gas from leakage from containers.
When storing your propane cylinders always make sure that the safety relief valve is in communication with the vapor space at all times and above the liquid level. Also, the safety relief valve should be pointed away from any sources of ignition. 20 lb cylinders or as their called "barbeque grill style" cylinders are always stored vertically where 33 lb or "forklift" style cylinders have the ability to be stored both horizontally or vertically.
Always check with your local fire Marshall to ensure that you are following the proper protocol before planning out your cylinder safety strategies.
All the
Propane storage Cabinets that we offer are either constructed of heavy gauge metal or durable aluminum, with both being rust resistant and withstanding all the elements of nature while securing your gases in an safe environment.
